Welcome to The Rolling Stonebaker, a culinary gem nestled in the heart of Valparaiso, Indiana. Located at 54 Lafayette St and easily accessible via phone at +1 219-462-0443, this vibrant eatery is a must-visit for any food lover. With a reputation for crafting mouth-watering pizzas and enticing starters, it offers an experience that is as delightful as it is memorable.
At The Rolling Stonebaker, every dish tells a story. The menu boasts a variety of starters that are perfect for whetting your appetite. Curious about what to try? Dive into the Stoner Bites for just $6. These are perfect for sharing or enjoying solo. For a bolder option, the Holla Back Poppers—jalapeños stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon—will leave your taste buds singing with delight at $9. If you’re in the mood for something hearty, the Nana's Meatballs are a must. Baked in the wood-fired oven with sugo and a dollop of ricotta, they deliver comfort in every bite for $12. And for those who love seafood, the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes are a standout choice, elegantly perched over oven-roasted spinach and drizzled with remoulade for $13.
But let’s not forget about the star of the show—the pizza. Customers rave about favorites like the uniquely named Your Mom Goes To College and the Sticky Fingers. The crust is perfectly charred from the wood-fired oven, and the toppings are both creative and generous. It's not just about the pizza; it's about the entire atmosphere. With limited indoor seating, the cozy space hums with excitement, making it a fantastic spot for a casual night out or a quick bite.
Drinks are equally well thought-out. The Cabernet Sauvignon Merf at $10 is an excellent choice to pair with your meal, enhancing the flavors of the dishes and providing a perfect accompaniment to the relaxed, lively vibe.
As Alexandra Hazen attests, the speed of service is impressive, and the desserts—like the indulgent pistachio and chocolate trifle or the refreshing strawberry rhubarb creation—are not to be missed. Each bite provides a sweet finishing touch that rivals the entrees.
Another guest, Craig, was particularly taken with their Halibut Reuben, calling it one of the best sandwiches he’s ever had. This speaks volumes about the culinary creativity and dedication behind each dish. With dishes that continually surprise and delight, it’s easy to see why The Rolling Stonebaker has amassed a loyal following.
In conclusion, The Rolling Stonebaker blends delicious food with a lively atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for both regular visits and special occasions. If you haven’t already, treat yourself to this captivating dining experience. You won’t just leave satisfied; you’ll be planning your return before you've even walked out the door.
“ I love coming here! Their pizza is so good and comes out super quick. I've had the Sticky Fingers, Choke-n-shroom, and Italian Queen. They also have some really good triffles that are often featured at the Valpo events concerts. The pistachio and chocolate one was good and rich. I just had their strawberry rhubarb triffle. It was so good! The tang from the strawberry rhubarb compote complimented the sweet cream/cookie crumbles. They are in a prime location, which is great. I'll definitely be back to try more pizza and desserts. ”
“ I stopped in for a quick bite while in Valpo. I had to try the "Your Mom Goes To College" pizza. (Next time I want to try "The Purple Pig".) The service was great and the food delicious. A very small dining room so large parties may want to consider carry out. ”
“ Pizza was very delicious, Banana pudding dessert was amazing! Staff was nice. The place definitely has a cool little vibe of its own. Decor was nice to look at, originally name adult drinks. Indoor seating is limited but there's a large outdoor spot also. Location is great. I'm only sad the the pizzas are only 10 inches but even so we managed to fill up on delicious food. ”
“ Our first time visit was about a year ago and we were blown away! Chose 5 different pies and all of them were extremely tasty and wonderful. We've had them several times since and always constantly wonderful! Last night tried the Borscht, never had it before so I had no idea what to expect. I've never been fond of anything with beets or cold soup so this was going to be a real stretch for me. Glad I did, my favorite soup ever? No. But very good and I would have it again for sure. Also had to try the special Halibut Reuben - THAT was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Amazing! Then there's the dessert special - Bananas Foster Bread Pudding (with vanilla ice cream from Valpo Velvet) - one of if not THE best bread pudding I've had too! Thank you Rolling Stonebaker! Y'all deserve more than 5 stars! ”
“ All of the dishes we had were phenomenal! We came in on a busy Sunday afternoon and it was mesmerizing watching the pizza maker and staff in such a small space. Love that there’s outdoor seating nearby. Great pizzas and cocktails, I’ll definitely be back! ”
“ Oh my gosh... this food is AMAZING. Affordable and such a nice environment. I'm definitely going back. My family and friends all loved the food including I! ”
“ My favorite pizzas are the joker, and cuban pizza. All the ingredients are fresh and the pizza is always hot. The st. Germain gin and tonic is delightful. The weekly specials always draw us in, usually for the trifle or the soup. We tried the elote dip and could not get enough it was so good. If you see scallops on the menu, snatch them up..some of the best I have had! ”
“ Went here for the first time the other day since I was looking for a good pizza place to try out in NWI and it was also recommended by my wife. It definitely DID NOT DISAPPOINT! We got mushrooms and artichoke and the one with the bacon jam and it was to die for! I love how the pizza is thinly sliced and super crispy. Flavors are good and will definitely come back to try out more on their menu. The only thing negative I can say about is that I wish I would have known about this place a long time ago because it is definitely hands down one of the best pizza places in the region. ”
